- Yetman Coat Of Arms
-
- Coat of Arms were developed in the
middle ages as a means of Identifying warriors in Battle, and tournaments.
Heraldic artists of old developed their own unique language to describe an
individual Coat of arms. Research shows that there may be many different coat of
arms for a specific surname. The Yetman coat of arms above is officially
documented in "Burkes General Armory. " The original description of the shield
is as follows:
-
- "PER PALE AR. AND SA. ON A FESS
DOVETAILED OR, BETW. TWO GATES IN CHIEF AND A GOAT'S HEAD ERASED IN BASE
COUNTERCHANGED, THREE BOARS' HEADS ERASED GU."
-
- When translated the Blazon also
describes the original colors of the "YETMAN" arms as:
-
- "DIVIDED VERTICALLY OF SILVER &
BLACK; ON A GOLD HORIZONTAL BAND DOVETAILED BETWEEN TWO GATES IN THE UPPER THIRD
AND A GOAT'S HEAD, JAGGED IN BASE COUNTERCHANGED, THREE RED BOARS' HEADS
JAGGED."
-
- Above the Shield and Helmet is the Crest
which is described as:
-
- "A JAGGED BLACK GOAT'S HEAD, HORNS AND
BEARD GOLD, AND CHARGED WITH A GOLD GATE."
